Return Trip Packaging
Returnable Transit Packaging (RTP) is a re-usable plastic container which is an alternative to a one-trip outer packaging case. The one-trip outer is usually made of fibre board or cardboard which is traditionally disposed of after use. RTPs are crates or trays which are operated within a closed loop system, being returned when empty for cleaning and re-filling.
Benefits
-
RTP uses less raw material than one-trip packaging, and reduces the need for disposal or collection and recycling of waste.
- Improved product protection – products are less susceptible to damage when carried in RTP.
-
Increased modularity – if the crates are of a stand size, they are easier to stack.
-
Reduced handling in the supply chain, particularly when the RTP is used to display product in-store.
